I have been a general nutrition consultant for many years. I’ve preached about the benefits of a low glycemic eating lifestyle, educated about the protein/carbs/healthy fats ratio, and ranted about excellent water intake, getting enough sleep, and taking the time to recharge with fun activities with friends and family. While periodic consultation is great, it allows for shades of gray to operate within, making long-term lifestyle changes possibly slow and sometimes nonexistent.

I’ve become an independent Health Coach for Weight Loss with Optavia to continue these ideals without the shades of gray. This system is black and white, and I have never seen it not work! My 86-year-old Dad, very attached to his chili cheese dogs and beer, will attest to this with his recent 40-pound weight loss in four months.

Success Story

I am 86 years old, and I was a victim of not only myself, but also the Covid lock-down! My weight increased from 205 to 222 pounds during those two and a half years. Not a good look! I attempted to put myself on a diet, but that didn’t come anywhere near solving my problem. I realized that I couldn’t do it myself. Cindy Ayres exposed me to Optavia. The program sounded reasonable to me. Lots of social media with testimonials and recipes for my meals, and with ways of changing up the Optavia food i.e., fuelings for interest and variety. My first shipment arrived in mid-March 2023.

At this point, my life started to change! Five fuelings and one lean and green meal per day was the prescribed menu. I plugged into being faithful to the program. The fuelings were different, naturally, but they were surprisingly good tasting. Out of the array of choices I found only two that I did not reorder.

I did a weekly “weigh-in”. My recorded weight loss from original weight of 222 lbs was… month 1 – 9 lbs., month 2 – 10 lbs., month 3 – 8 lbs., month 4 – 6 lbs., month 5 — 5 lbs., month 6 — 4 lbs., which put me at my goal of 180 lbs. on 9-26-23.

As I passed through the months, particularly during the third month, I felt I had gained a great deal more energy than I had prior to starting the program. I became accustomed to the five fuelings every two hours. The fuelings were enough to sustain me for hours, much to my chagrin, so I didn’t even feel the need for my beloved sub sandwiches!

This brings me to my last point. My COACH. You will need a knowledgeable person to guide you through your journey. Cindy Ayres was my person. For the first few months or so we touched base a lot, once a day for a while then once a week or more, when needed. She provided information and gentle “direction” to me when I would start steering the wrong way. She has knowledge of nutrition far beyond the Optavia program, which did come into play frequently. Her Pilates and fitness training knowledge was also helpful for suggesting routines for working out and stretching, etc. that would kick my body out of its malaise.
